My gmail account has stopped receiving emails

Gmail account user may find issue that he is not receiving emails in his inbox, though he is able to send. This is usually not a server issues or problem from Gmail but from the user side only. The problem may occur due to various reasons. Few of them are mentioned below.

  • May be the emails are landing in trash or spam folder.
  • May be emails are forwarding to some other email id of the same user.
  • May be filters are set for particular email id.
  • May be emails are landing in some other folder.
So, how one can deal with this issue? There is nothing to worry about. Few settings change user can do to overcome the problem. 
  1. Login to the Gmail account.
  2. Click on the gear icon.
  3. Then click on Settings.
  4. Go to tab Filters.
  5. Look if there is any filter for the particular sender and delete or un-check it.
  6. Save the settings.
  7. Again go to tab, Forwarding POP/IMAP.
  8. When messages are accessed through POP or IMAP, select the option from the drop down, as "Keep a copy of email in the Gmail Inbox. ".
  9. Save the settings.
  10. Go to Accounts & Import tab, and check weather receiving email id is misconfigured or not. Make the email id as default , if there are more than one account ids.
  11. Again Save settings.
  12. Check the Spam and Trash folder.
  13. In the Search box above, click the down arrow.
  14. Enter any things related to the email that is not received like sender's id or subject etc. and click on search icon.
  15. User can see the list of emails which were not seen in the inbox. 
  16. Select the email and then click on the icon for Move to.
  17. Select the option "Move to Inbox ".
User is advised to clean his inbox daily or within regular interval so that unimportant emails get deleted. If still user finds issues or there is any query, user can contact with the experts at Gmail Customer Service.
